1982Class Notes Archives----- From June 2007 AALFNY Newsletter ----- ● "Dorka Keehn has always wanted to change the world, first through politics and more recently through art. And she’s very curious and wants to know what makes people tick. She is an award winning filmmaker, political activist and aspiring jazz singer. Her documentary film “OF CIVIL WRONGS & RIGHTS: The Fred Korematsu Story” won two Emmys in 2001. She is a founder of EMERGE, a leadership training program for Democratic woman across the country who want to run for political office at the local and state levels; and of Women Count, a national nonpartisan media campaign and educational program that mobilized women voters for the 2000 elections. Twice San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown appointed her to the SF Commission on the Status of Women, where she still serves. She was the West Coast Director of Gloria Steinem’s Voters For Choice, the largest non-partisan, independent pro-choice political action committee in the U.S. During years of political burnout, Dorka produced documentaries for television. She has served on innumerable Boards of Directors of women’s, environmental, media and educational organizations."
