My husband Joel is consulting right now so he can move easily. We’re pretty excited. There’s the Lycee Francais there too (Lycee La Perouse), so we will definitely enroll our kids. After that it may be back East or France, and if we go any further west we might end up in Australia! My kids are getting big, Mathieu is 8 and Alexandre is almost 4. Time flies. I'm still living in Denver, in beautiful Colorado (although we might be moving this year...) with my husband Joel and my two boys Mathieu (7) and Alexandre (3). We've really enjoyed living in this part of the country, our boys are great hikers! Clarence is doing well and is living with his wife and two children in Larchmont, NY. He works in private equity in NYC, and attended Harvard Business School (MBA) and graduated from Columbia University (BA). Claude lives in NYC, where he started a hedge fund service provider firm with his brother Solan after working in venture capital and business development. Claude graduated from The Wharton School (MBA), and also received an MA from Columbia University and a BA from The University of Pennsylvania. Solan graduated from Georgetown Law School and from The University of Chicago (BA), phi beta kappa. When not at work with Claude, Solan spends most of his free time with his family and his wonderful twin boys." ● Sandrine-Aïcha Karam nous écrit: "Voici quelques nouvelles après de très longues années… Après mon bac à Rabat et mes études de BTS à Angers, je me retrouve sur Paris là où mes parents vivaient. Je suis toujours en contact avec Yolande Amiot-Priso, depuis un an avec Lancelot Gambis et depuis peu avec Guido Milner. Even though I left the Lycee way before the Bac in '87, I have very good and vivid memories of my eight years at the Lycee and the friends that shared those years. I live in North Carolina but have a marketing position that covers activities in Europe so I am on the other side of the Atlantic half of the time. My husband is Chilean but has a business in Argentina near the Brazilian border, and we also travel to those countries regularly, so if anyone is there.... I always enjoy browsing through the AALFNY website. In fact, I was able to get in touch with Alain Konda and Zoe Coxon through the Class Notes. I am still in contact with Marc Doo-Kingue, Nick Meltzer, Ali Haddou, Jean-Michel Huet and Ken Smith. Most of us were actually reunited for Nick’s wedding in May 2004. I am also in touch with Adrienne Wickert and Christine Oury, although I haven’t seen them in a while. As for me, I have been living in London for four years now. I work for an international organization. The big change however is that my parents left NY and moved to Florida. Best wishes." ● Nicolas Meltzer was kind enough to send us a bunch of updates on his classmates, as well as on himself (at the end of all the updates), as follows: "Ali Haddou: Works for some think tank in Mexico City, married to the lovely Ezra, had their first child, daughter Nina on December 2, 2005. Ali, tell Nina uncle Nick is coming to visit real soon. Ken Smith: Works for the Mexican government in Mexico City. Married to his college sweetheart Amy. They have 2 sons Sebastian and Sidney. Ken, I think Seby is old enough for his 1st Yankee game. I expect to see you in NYC soon. Marc Doo-Kingue: Living the good life. Tennis pro in the Hamptons during the summer. Tennis pro in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico in the winter. Professional traveler in the off-season. Dude, I'll see you in Mexico in a few months. Olivier Faure: School director in Paris. Has two great sons Emile and Leon. Getting married sometime this year. Olivier, just say when and where and I'll be there. Stephanie Mulot: Lives in London with her husband, my main man Fred. Steph, you're due for your next visit to NYC. Jean-Michel Huet: Married to Alexandra, now working for Morgan Stanley in NYC. Lives one block away from on the Upper East Side. Georges Nedellec: Living in San Diego, married to Cecile. Just had their 2nd child Lea on November 26, 2005 joining brother Alan. Georges, you're due a trip back to the city. As for me, I'm living in New York City with my lovely wife and future doctor Gianina. We are expecting our 1st child this summer. We both love all you guys. He is extremely happy to finally be back in NYC after a 5-year stint in the suburbs (pas recommendé), and is now living a mere two blocks from the new Lycee building (this was on purpose: he is looking forward to sending his beloved daughter, Colette, who turns 2 at the end of October, to the Lycee starting next year, and is currently going through the interview / application process, etc). He has been working at Deutsche Bank in NYC for over 7 years now, and is currently Business Manager for the Private Client / Private Wealth Management division). It was thrilling to see a message from Ken, with news of him and Ali, two of my best buddies (and first band-mates) back then, along with Steve Siegel of course (long live Chestnut Dessert). Would love to get back in touch with any of my old classmates if any of you are still lurking around this wonderful city... About a dozen alumni joined Micheline's family and other friends to celebrate at the Union Square area restaurant, Lucy. Top-notch sangria flowed and platters of great scallop “ceviche” arrived and were quickly emptied. Alumni revelers included Natalie Yates Cacciato '78, Jeremy Yates '74, Susan Schwenger '80, Vanessa der Calousdian ’94, Druce Vertes '83, Alessandra Gagliardi '86, Gloria Tulliu '73, Jackie Tolkowsky, and Mathieu Moulin, among others... I am trying to get in touch with Helen Nguyen's mother to write my condolences. How sad. As for an update, I wished to let you know that I am living in London. I graduated in 1991 from Princeton where I studied Art History and Visual Arts, concentrating on Photography. Photography became my passion and I went out to Arizona to study with my teacher's teacher, the eminent Frederick Sommer, in an apprenticeship. Thereafter, I began setting up a Photographic Programme in London, which was no mean feat! Four years ago, I was joined by my associate Margaret Mann, and we have formally founded The School of Black and White Photography, fully accredited, and offering many exciting Programmes in all aspects of Photography. We are slowly linking up with some schools in the US. I see Julien Sevaux, now a banker, here in London, as well as his sister, Claire. Astrid Froidure has, I heard, moved away although I am not sure where. I wanted to get back in touch. In June 2000, after 5 years in Montreal, my family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where my husband started a new position with his company. I had to leave my job as PR Manager with L'Oréal Canada and am now working for an advertising/marketing/PR firm in Denver. I am enjoying the challenges and diversity of clients, not to mention the climate and scenery! Our son, Mathieu, is now two years old.” ● Serge François has a Masters in Library Science and is currently working as a librarian in Kansas City. He is also preparing another Masters at St. Paul’s University/ School of Theology. Serge is married to Dr. Anne Danielson who is doing research for the Univ. of Kansas. I'm the head (since 1997) of the London office of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, which does what it says on the label. Anyone else in London from the class of 87?" ● Sophie Gest: "Je réside à Abidjan depuis 1992. Je gère une régie publicitaire (supports d'affichage, presse, internet, recherche de sponsoring.) La vie à Abidjan n'a pas été de tout repos ces derniers temps avec les nombreux coups d'état ou tentatives de déstabilisation. Je guette donc les opportunités de m'expatrier dans un 'coin plus tranquille'... A bon entendeur ! Ensuite il a travaillé chez Office Depot et a fait l'ouverture des 5 premiers magasins en France, en tant que Manager Achats pour 25% du CA (produits pour le bureau, téléphonie, fax, imprimantes...). Depuis '98, il est chez Hewlett Packard, encore une société américaine; manager pour l'Europe d'une famille de produits et a en charge les résultats et la vente de cette gamme dans 22 pays. Bref, pas le temps de s'ennuyer! A part ça, il compose des chansons (parole et musique). Il habite Grenoble; marié, papa de Bryan,13 mois. ● Micheline Dugué, MD is a geriatric psychiatrist specializing in the evaluation of older people for memory disorders. She is the clinical director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and has been a member of the Alumni Association of the LFNY for over two years. Micheline sent the Alumni Council a postcard from Mount Everest! She celebrated her 31st birthday with a trip to India and Nepal in March. ------From February/March 2001 AALFNY Newsletter------ ● Kenneth Smith writes us from Mexico: "The web site is great, and I want to congratulate you for all the efforts you have made to keep the Alumni Association going." He has a year and a half old son who is already going to a mini-cours (classe tout-petits) so that he can go to the Lycée Français down in Mexico City in a couple of years! Kenneth is working as chief of staff of the Undersecretary of Trade of Mexico, working primarily on negotiations of free trade agreements such as the one recently concluded with the European Union. His classmate, Ali Haddou, works in the Trade Ministry in Mexico, at the Federal Commission on Regulatory Improvement. |
