Under his leadership Radant MEMS was founded. He has more than 43 years of experience in technology and defense industries. In addition, Dr. Sureau has been CEO and president of Radant Technologies Inc. since 1981, during which time Radant Technologies has become a leading manufacturer of advanced Radomes and related electromagnetic devices. Prior to that, Dr. Sureau held leading senior scientific positions at a number of companies including MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Grumman Aerospace, and Wheeler Laboratories/Bell Telephone. While researching my family genealogy, I discovered interesting information about my ancestors. I previously knew that some of my forebears can be traced back to the island of Cephalonia, off the west coast of Greece, as far back as 13th century, where the Rossolimo clan owned and controlled vast tracks of land. The startling information I uncovered is that this clan are the descendants of Hughes de Sully, baron and “officer general” from Normandy, in the service of Charles d’Anjou, king of Naples. Hughes commanded the Neapolitan army, which King Charles sent to help the Nicephore empire against the Byzantine emperor Michel Paléologue. In 1281, Hughes was taken prisoner by the Byzantines and imprisoned in Constantinople. Because of his red hair, Hughes de Sully was generally called “the red de Sully”, which in Greek became “Ros Solimo”. From this, the Greeks named his descendants “Rossolimo”. (The source of this genealogical information is the three-volume “Livre d’or de la noblesse ionienne” by Eugène Rizo-Rangabé, Paris 1926)." ● Philippe de La Chapelle "graduated from the Lycee Francais and Columbia College in New York and received a J.D. from Georgetown Law School. From 1966 - 1976, he was U.S. and International Counsel for W. R. Grace & Co.; in 1977, he was recruited to be Assistant General Counsel for Norton Simon. Fluent in French and Spanish, in 1981, he was appointed Director-International for Warner Communications where he designed and directed a worldwide program to streamline the company's infrastructure for 120 subsidiaries in 73 countries. Thereafter, he was appointed Senior Vice President & General Counsel for Mastercard International, participating in that company's international expansion. Prior to joining HT Capital Advisors, Mr. de La Chapelle was Senior Vice President of Warnaco, Inc., a multibillion dollar international apparel company responsible for the legal and human resources departments and streamlining the company’s European activities. It was charming." ----- From November 2004 AALFNY Newsletter ----- Wendy (Kupsick) Sherman writes: "It is a pleasure for me to receive your bulletins and read about the new institution. The Lycee has meant so much to me in my lifetime. I got out of the fast-paced life of a TV new reporter to do something quieter, but with a great deal of meaning for me. I work in non-profit at the American Civil Liberties Union, and it has been fascinating. I also continue to dance competitively, for those of you who know of my rather insane passion. My two children are thriving, but I will let my daughter speak for herself if she so chooses, as she is also a Lycee alumna, class of 1988." DECES: Wendy (Kupsick) Sherman ('58) also wrote to us regarding Ariel Brun de Pontet, '58: "I see you are looking for information on my colleagues from the class of 1958. One of them, Ariel de Pontet, died [recently]. I don't know more than that." Rossolimo writes: «For the past two years, I have been working for an Internet startup, IntellectExchange, in a variety of jobs: cofounder and acting CEO, VP of Business Strategy, and VP of Corporate Development. After successfully raising the seed capital and developing the business plan, I helped launch the company last year. The firm is now in its third round of financing.» |
