Annabelle Cone wrote: "I got together with old lycée chums who were passing through New England just a few days apart from each other. First a photo of Carla Rosen-Vacher ('78) and me standing in front of Boston Harbor, June 5th, 2007, when we met up in Boston for the day. We visited the brand new ICA which is an architectural wonder. Two days prior to that, I had gone to the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, to catch up with Stephanie Carson-Parker ('78) whose daughter Maxime had just completed a post-graduate year there. Also pictured is Stephanie's husband Bruno. Carla was in town for her Harvard (25th) reunion, Stephanie and Bruno were attending their daughter's graduation before driving to Montreal where she will be attending Concordia University."

Carla Rosen-Vacher wrote: "Annabelle Cone and I managed another successful meet-up in Boston on June 5th (see picture taken at Institute of Contemporary Art on the beautiful waterfront). I was in town for my 25th Harvard College reunion, a fantastic experience, partly thanks to guest speakers President Bill Clinton and Bill Gates - who joked about finally returning for a degree! (honorary doctorates of law). On the work front, I continue to enjoy being at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg as Commercial and Economic Specialist, foreign service national staff, with the State Department. Dominique survived the ArcelorMittal merger and is thriving as head of capital investment purchasing worldwide - despite a brutal travel schedule. I am holding down the fort at home and looking forward to our move into the newly-renovated part of our farmhouse in July - won't be able to host guests overnight until next year when phase 2 is completed, but at least I can make dinner! Best to all. Carla"

● In our newsletter #20 (December, 2003) we reported that Stéphane Dehais '85 informed us that his brother Philippe Dehais ('78) passed away on May 5, 1990 in London, England. One of Philippe's classmates --Frankie Mondjo-Leger ('78)-- wanted to share her remembrance of Philippe as well, which is published in the In Memoriam section of this newsletter.(Click on link below.)

Riccardo Guariglia wrote: "Life in Brazil, for me and my family, goes on greatly! I’ve been living in Brasilia for two years now, and I still consider my experience here rewarding and fascinating. Work in the Embassy of Italy is extremely interesting, especially in this period of important political elections. Private life, also, could not be better. We keep traveling around, discovering fantastic places: the last was Fernando de Noronha island, 700 miles away from the coast of Brazil, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. A real paradise (it is called call the “Galapagos of the Atlantic”), which is really worth visiting (I recommend watching beautiful pictures in the following site: http://www.noronha.com.br/imagens.htm ). Cheers to all, Riccardo."

Carla (Rosen) Vacher shared this with us: "Continue to enjoy managing commercial relations and advocacy for American companies at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg. We are looking forward to myriad activities as the "European Capital of Culture" for 2007. On the volunteer front, I am helping to launch the Wharton alumni club here and continue to serve on the board of trustees of the Pittsburgh Film Office from a distance. Will be happy to be "home" in NYC for the Christmas and New Year's holidays this year and see the Lycee friends who are around. Best to everyone."

Charles Giblain just started up a new company, and he wrote: "Bionexx is a company.....involved in the cultivation and extraction of Artemisia Annua, a Chinese plant. The objective is to produce ACTs to combat malaria. I still reside in Madagascar with my family."

Nicole (Girod) Owens wrote: "It has been ages since I received an Alumini magazine (probably because I couldn't afford dues) but I was happy and sad to receive the most recent one. I was happy because it gave me news of classmates with whom I've lost touch. Over the years, I wish that I had stayed in contact with some of you but life took me in a totally different direction. I was very sad to hear the news of Frederic Kapner's death. I still remember him with such fondness; it makes me smile because I remember him always with a smile on his face.

It has been decades since I last stepped foot in NYC. I've been wanting to return for a visit but circumstances have not allowed me. After I graduated from Rutgers, I served over 12 years in the Air Force. It was a very rewarding experience and although I had mixed feelings about leaving, I knew I chose the right path. I met my husband, Tom, in the Air Force, married him almost a year to the day after we met and I left the Air Force at the end of my maternity leave after having our first child (Michelle who is now 11 years old).

We were soon tranferred to Tinker AFB, Oklahoma...the same year the movie "Twister" was released. Needless to say we had a certain image of Oklahoma. We would have never thought that this state would become our home. Tom and I added two boys to the mix, Tommy (9 1/2 yrs old) and Jack (8). I homeschool all three of my children, so I am pretty busy. In addition, I work as a part-time Sales Rep for K12, Inc., a top-notch curriculum company.
Tom has been out of the service for six years and works as an AWACS simulator instructor pilot for L-3 Communications.

Our daughter Michelle is a musical theatre pro and, if I make it back to New York one day, it will probably be because she is performing on Broadway. I am unbashedly proud of this little dynamo and have no clue where she got her talent.
Tom and the boys love sports and I enjoy tagging along to basketball games, baseball games, golf, etc.

We live on six acres although we are within city limits. It is so enjoyable out here. My parents have been living in Fort Walton Beach, FL for the past 20 years (I was assigned there for 5 years) but with my dad starting to suffer some of old age's problems, we are looking at building an addition to our house for them. Please wish us luck as we progress through this.
I hope to hear from some of my classmates now that I have resurfaced. Although I disappeared, you have been in my heart always."

Avis de Décès: Frederic Kapner (Click on link for further details)

Liane Coleman sent us this news about Marie-Jeanne Gouamba: "I'm actually writing on behalf of one of my classmates. I was just given a copy of a novel called Mawa Femme de Las-Bas written by Jeanne Gouamba, a love story. We knew her as Marie Jeanne Gouamba class of 1978. This is her fist literary effort and she would love to have it sold here in the US and eventually translated into English."

Annabelle Cone wrote: "I have been teaching at Dartmouth College for ten years as a senior lecturer. This spring I am teaching a French class along with a LFNY class of '04 named Corinne Wyeth who is my drill instructor (teaching assistant). I'm sending along a photo of the two of us taken in a classroom in Dartmouth Hall.
As for news about me in general. Where to begin? Well, let's see, three years in New York City after college were spent renovating a house in Park Slope, teaching at a private school, and working in film and video. Then I moved to New Hampshire and also went to Brown for my PhD in French Literature, soon followed by child number 1 (Rosalie) and child number 2 (Clara). I am busy with teaching and children, and enjoying all of the above.
I stay in touch with Stephanie Carson-Parker and Carla Rosen who are both on the other side of the Atlantic in French speaking countries with French husbands! I guess the only way for me to keep up my French was to teach it. Anyone needing "un bol d'air" can come and visit me in Cornish, NH. My email address is [available upon request] ."

Lianne Coleman wrote this touching message: "I ran into the Haitian lady Rosie ( I think that's her name) who worked at the Lycee in the lunchroom for the 'lunch chaud'. She used to live near me and comes around every now and then. I can't believe we still recognized each other after all of these years, especially since I didn't even eat the hot lunch. She looks the same too. She was nostalgic about the good ole days when M. Galy was around."

● From Riccardo Guariglia: "Dear friends of the LFNY, it is really amazing to read news from all of you in the "class notes" columns! Congratulations for the patience and dedication of those of you who work on this beautiful site. Here are a few updated elements on me and my family's life: we now live here in Brasilia for six months. It is an extremely interesting experience for all of us. The life is very pleasant, local people are really friendly, and -as compared to other cities in Brazil - everything looks very quiet! When we have time, we travel around: there are so many beautiful things to see, especially related to nature, which is unspoiled. Recently, we spent a few days on a fantastic beach, between Salvador (what an exciting town!) and Ilheus: real paradise! Our children (Raffaele, 15; Nicola, almost 14; and Maria Benedetta, 12) are having great time, also at the "Lycée Français de Brasilia", and we are all charmed by the warmth of this country! My work, as deputy head of the Italian Embassy, is also very rewarding and challenging! Hope to meet or get in touch with some "camarades" of 1978; cheers to all!"

Roshanara (Akhund) Robin wrote: "I just found out about this web site through my good friend Monique Pujol, the only Lycée class mate I have kept in touch with. What a voyage down memory lane. Nostalgia, nostalgia ! My news : I have been living in France for the last 16 years. After quite a bit of professional exploration, from Unicef reports office, to film production manager, to personal assisant to a cuban/american business man I started my own textile business, working mostly with artisans in Pakistan. It's hard work, very competitive but I love it. I am very happily married to Tibo (2nd hubby) and have two fantastic children, Teymour (15) and Soraya (3). We just bought a home in Versailles and I would love to organize a class reunion one of these days!"

Suzanne Bettina (Gleckman) Gleason wrote: "I'm a freelance writer living in "Nolita" (forgive the expression) with my son (Joe, 7) and daughter (Bettina, 8), my boyfriend, and 3 cats. I left my job as beauty/health editor at Harper's Bazaar when my daughter was born, and now I write about beauty, health, fitness, and various quirky personal essays for magazines like Self, Glamour, Elle and am currently writing a book with a psychologist. I'm currently working on a special feature about a dominatrix (!) and will be a subject in a photo book called Black & White.

I'm still in touch with Livia Corredor ,my first best friend at the Lycee -- I was being punished for some minor crime in 12e and sitting outside the class with the surveillant when Livia and her mother walked in. She was the "new kid in the class" and --because her hair was even longer than mine -- I knew we'd be friends for life. I was right! I also occasionally talk to Kriti Siderakis and owe Natalie Yates a much overdue phone call. I was also extremely close to Nicolas Reynard, who died a few months ago in a plane crash in the Rio Negro in the Amazon. We'd just spoken a few days earlier and he was due to talk to my daughter's class at UNIS about the Amazon a few weeks later. I've since been in touch with my classmate Eric Jacobsen, who was also a good friend of his."

Charles Giblain wrote: "Since my last update, major changes. After 8 years in Executive Search, I decided to switch fields and moved to Madagascar. We have been there for the last 2 years. I currently run a textile company (cotton growing, spinning, weaving, finishing...) based in Antsirabé. I employ over one thousand people ....and trying to compete against the chinese!! If you drop by in the region please give me a buzz."

Carla (Rosen) Vacher wrote: "As of April 2004, I assumed the position of Commercial Specialist with the Department of Commerce at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg. I have enjoyed working directly with the Ambassador on supporting U.S. business interests in Luxembourg, increasing U.S. exports and also assisting Luxembourg companies do business in the U.S. On the home front, the renovation of our farmhouse is progressing well - we're taking the positive approach to the long timeline, since the quality is excellent! Hope to see Lycee friends soon. I've been fortunate to keep up with Annabelle Cone, Natalie Yates and Dominique Richard, whom I saw last summer on the Riviera! Will be happy to host guests as soon as the house is done (2006??) All the best to everyone."

Riccardo Guariglia shared this with us: "Dear 'camarades',
recently I have given to Class Notes a brief summary of my life,
since I left the Lycée Français, in 1975. I now have to update my
personal information, as I have just moved brom Bruxelles to Brasilia, where I am now the Deputy Head of Mission of the Italian Embassy in Brazil. It happened that I didn't know almost at all Brazil, when I arrived here last month: it is a fantastic country (rather a continent!), and Brasilia is an amazing and incredible city to live in! The family is OK, and the three children are attending the "Lycée Français de Brasilia", respectively in 3ème, 4ème, and 6ème (all classes which I have attended in New York, from 1971 to 1975!). I look forward to hear from all of You! Cheers from Brazil, Riccardo."

● From Greg Dale: "Where to start? After graduating from Princeton in 1981, I spent the next ten years acting and directing in NYC, then moved to Tokyo where I've been for the last thirteen years. I'm acting and directing here, too, in Broadway level plays with Japanese theater companies. I'm also doing lots of commercial narrations in English and French (something I owe to my eight years at the Lycee). Three years ago, I married Yayoi Miyamoto and am living in bliss in our new home. No kids yet."

Fred Kapner reports he has moved from Milan to London to edit European political and general news pages at FT. (Note: Fred passed away in 2006)

Lianne Coleman sent us this amusing news about the Lycee: "I don't know if you are aware of this but I was at the Bronx Botanical Gardens the other day and they have the Holiday Train Show until Jan 9, 2004 which depicts replicas of historic landmark buildings in miniatures made out of leaves, branches, mushrooms etc. There in front of me was a replica of the Lycee Francais on 72nd Street. I nearly fainted dead away. I hope everyone has a chance to see it.It was really cool."

Geoffrey Knauth wrote: "My wife Robin just completed her Th.D. at Harvard and teaches at Lycoming College. We have two sons, Alexander (7) and William (5)."

Births/Naissances:
Barbara Weindling '78 gave birth on July 1, 2003 to a baby boy, Gavin Randolf Cohen.
Our council’s own Natalie Yates Cacciato '78 wrote: “After years of rubbing noses, my husband and I are delighted to announce the birth of our son, Alexander, on September 9, 2003, four days before our 17th wedding anniversary!”

In Memoriam:
Stéphane Dehais '85 informed us that his brother Philippe Dehais '78 passed away peacefully May 5, 1990 in London, England.

Livia Corredor Duffee writes: “I have recently retired from a big law firm and am attempting to have a solo practice based on real estate law. This allows me to spend more time with my husband, David Duffee, and three children: Alexandra (13 years), Helena (11 years) and Nicholas (5 years).”

Annabelle Cone shares this with us: “I am married, have two children, Rosalie (12) and Clara (9). I’ve been teaching at Dartmouth full-time since 1995, and received my PhD from Brown University in 1993. Life in Cornish is generally peaceful. It’s a nice place to visit if anyone is in the area!”

Riccard Guariglia writes: “Dear old "camarades" of the Lycée Français: I have learned of the Alumni Association from the son of a friend, and immediately connected with the beautiful web site. It has been so nice to read and get news from a few of you - old "camarades" of the Lycée in the years 1971-75 (from 6ème to 3ème), period in which I had the luck to be a pupil of the Lycée.
Here, in a nut-shell, my personal history since then. From 1975 to 79 I have lived in Warsaw (I got my BAC in West Berlin, since I was following school courses by mail from Poland). After that, the family moved back to Rome; I graduated in Economics in Rome University in 1983, and at the beginning of 1985 I joined the Italian Diplomatic Service. I served in Rome from 1985 to 1989, and than moved to Cairo, Egypt, where I stayed untill early 1992. After, I was appointed Consul of Italy in Bruxelles, until 1996. Back in Rome again, I have ben dealing for four years with Balkan affairs (Albania, Kosovo....). Since 2000 I have again been posted in Bruxelles, as First Counsellor in the Italian Delegation to NATO. I will stay here untill next summer, and then, who knows....I got married with Nelly in 1989 (just before our assignment in Egypt), and have three children, Raffaele (13), Nicola (12), and Maria Benedetta (10), all of them attending the Lycée Français of Bruxelles. I would like very much to have more news about old friends of New York, and hopefully also meet one day some of them. ….Don't hesitate to contact me! Best regards to all of you!”

Daniel La Mothe Jost, MD writes: “It is a pleasure to find this Association. I have spent a good moment reading and scanning the content. I will let Charles Giblain ‘78 and Jean-Paul Pietro Castro ’79 know about this site. There are many other alumni in NY but I have lost touch. The promotion of ‘78 was quietly dispersed after the BAC. I was left back a year and a lot of old friends went off in ‘77. I was not surprised to note the failed relationship between the Lycée and the Alumni Association. From 5ème to Terminale the powers-that-be never seemed to care much. The only people who matter are our friends, and some exceptional teachers who I remember and continue to love deeply. In my time the administration was a mere annoyance. I look forward to a new Lycée for the new century. The challenges are going to be great. That the Lycée will be present for our children excites me. I have married and my daughter Chloe is 3. I live in the Midwest, practice medicine, raise horses, and have lasting memories of the Lycée. You have all done a superb job with this site. If anyone knows where Tarik Rahal ’77 is, please let me know. Please feel free to contact me."

Carla (Rosen) Vacher writes: “After graduate school, I moved to Duesseldorf, Germany to work in consumer product marketing for Henkel for almost two years and then was transferred to Henkel France in Paris as part of the executive rotation program. I stayed on for five years and was promoted up to group product manager for laundry detergent and loved it. Subsequently I was asked to apply for the position of Protocol Officer as part of the State Department in the U.S. Embassy in Paris and was hired by the late Ambassador Pamela Harriman for whom I worked for two years in the Residence. I became close to the Ambassador and miss her very much, as well as the tremendous experiences I was privileged to have. After staying on for Ambassador Felix Rohatyn, I left my position to get married and moved into my husband's home in the suburb of St-Remy-les-Chevreuse near Versailles. We moved within a year to Pittsburgh for his promotion to CEO of the U.S. subsidiary of his engineering firm.I continue to volunteer in Democratic politics, after having served as elected officer for Democrats Abroad in Paris for six years and also delegate for President Clinton in Chicago in 1996, the highlight of my political involvement. Professionally I found a new career in fundraising for non-profit organizations, including social service agencies and cultural institutions and am a Trustee of the Pittsburgh Film Office and member of the Alumni Board of the Lycée.” [Since emailing us this information, Carla sent us the following update announcing her return to Europe:] “After four years back in the United States (Pittsburgh, PA), I am returning to Europe, specifically Luxembourg, for my husband's new position as Vice President for Industrial Investments for Arcelor, the multinational steel conglomerate. It is rewarding to settle into such a diverse and thriving international community where I can put my French and German to good use again. I hope to return to the public sector there eventually, after enjoying my time at the U.S. Embassy in Paris so much, once work on our landmark farmhouse is completed. While it will be painful to be away from dear friends in the U.S., I am happy to retain active ties as a trustee of the Pittsburgh Film Office, class of 1982 chair of the John Harvard Society Council for Harvard College and long-standing volunteer in political campaigns.”

● At the time of the Alumni Association’s Soirée at the Avignon-New York Film Festival in April (brainchild of our own classmate and master promoter Beck Lee), Natalie Yates Cacciato received several bits of news and commentary:
From Alain Benzaken:"Great job with the web site once again. The News stories were great, esecially that fighter pilot over NYC. It's always fun to read that newsletter, there are tidbits everywhere... I wish I had a 13 year-old daughter to send over to Stephanie's, sounds like a great thing to do. Hell, I would go, I still have a crush on her from 9eme! Anyhow, I just reserved for the Film Festival, I'll see you there next week. I've been very busy with my new job and I haven’t had time for anything else... »
And from Daniel Lamothe Jost: « I wish I could be there, but I have to stay with my patients. I do hope to join a meeting soon. And I too, had a crush on Stephanie. Is anyone out here in Missouri?»
Annabelle Cone reported: «I am still at Dartmouth, still living in Cornish N.H. Still have two daughters. Different husband though. He is Dutch, his name is Remko and he now works at NOAA in Maryland, which shortens the commute quite a bit (the KLM flight from Boston to Amsterdam was getting a little tiring not to mention costly). Now we are regulars on Southwest Airlines, Baltimore to Manchester. I have seen a great deal of Stephanie Carson-Parker in the many years that separate us from graduation so long ago. Her daughters and my daughters get along well together, I just wish they could see each other more often. I also see Carla Rosen from time to time. Have her penned in for June! » Carla wrote : « So sorry to miss Beck's event!!! Our first hearthrob!!! Please say hi and congrats from me.»

JP Clejan shared this bit of news and an appeal « [I’m] single now and happily living in Long Island (where I will stay to be near my children). Fortunately, I'm only 1/2 hour from Manhattan, so I can be in town at will (I also have customers and business events there). I am doing the singles scene (the modern way using networking and match.com), and both getting used to dating again, and adjusting to the way things have changed since I was last single. I see my sons a great deal, and have done a ton of skiing this winter with them… FYI - my ex-wife has the house in Manhasset, where the kids live; I'm sharing an estate in Sands Point (Port Washington) with a Senior Citizen who lost their shirt in the tech stocks and needs a boarder to pay her property taxes - her house is incredible. I still have the ski house at Stratton, which I run as a share house in the winter and a rental property the rest of the season. » JP is especially interested in meeting Cancer, Aries, Sagittarius or Pisces women looking for a long-term relationship, and will furnish his match.com ad to classmates interested in fixing them up.

Charles Giblain writes: “After graduating in ‘81 from Columbia, I spent 5 years in the Persian Gulf for Schlumberger. I took a break and did my MBA at Wharton where I in fact met my future wife. Joined a strategic consulting firm Mars & Co based in Greenwich (6 years). I then changed fields about eight years ago and became a partner of an Executive Search firm, Eric Salmon & Partners (a small boutique firm...we have grown since and are present in five countries Paris, Milan, Frankfurt, London and New York). On a more personal note I have been married for the last ten years and we have two children -a girl named India who is six years old and a boy, Cyrus who was born in November.”

Stephanie Carson-Parker is looking for a possible summer exchange for her 13-year old daughter and a friend.

Jean Pierre Clejan is living in Manhasset, Long Island with his wife and two children, Andre (5) and Thomas (3). He is a Technical Sales Consultant with Sandata, a computer systems integrator and ASP out of Port Washington, New York. JP is in contact with Marc Stowe and Natalie Yates, and really enjoyed the get-together that Natalie coordinated last year for the class of 1978.He and his wife are avid skiers, sailors and windsurfers.

Bruno Villa is currently managing Internet and marketing companies. In 1999, he sailed with one other companion around the world: divorced, no kids; he is learning to fly in Reims where he is most of the time.

Natalie Yates Cacciato writes: «Since the last Class Notes, I've been busy with several Lycée-related initiatives. This past March I participated in the Class of 78/79 mini-reunion in Paris. Many thanks to Stephanie, Annyvonne and Lilian for planning the details and pulling it off... As a result of the terrific College Panel that the LFNY Alumni Association sponsored in January with the College Counseling office, I helped a Terminale student with his college application essays. It was a very interesting process and he, his family and the College Counselor seemed to value my contribution far more than I, which is, of course, very satisfying... At Blue Iceberg, we continue to sponsor a Lycée alum as a paid student intern at our website development firm. Our management team continues to be impressed with the kind of focus and quality education that Lycée students receive-- dispelling the rumors one hears on the street about the School being in crisis. In June the Class of '78 was well-presented at the Alumni Cocktail, even though it wasn't a reunion year for us. Many thanks to Beck Lee '78. I encourage classmates who have the interest to volunteer and get involved.» Natalie also serves as a member of your Alumni Council and a Vice President of the Alumni Association of the LFNY, Inc.

Marie-Christine (Fontanet) Gousseland writes from New York's Upper West Side,: «My brother and his wife are moving back to NY for 2 years...His oldest daughter will be going to the Lycee in the fall. The younger one could not be taken because they were full. ...Almost made it to the June meeting. I will definitely try to make the next cocktail.. So who showed up? Was pleased to read Alain Benzaken is doing well and gave a talk. Any news about Livia? I am trying to find /trace some old classmates.... They are Giovanni de Luca, Claude Cernuschi and Jean Christophe Turot.....I tried to send Claire Delannoy an email but got "rejected".I was thinking of Barbara Weindling a while back. I remembered a weekend when she had invited me over for a sleep over or something and their housekeeper had made fried chicken and that was an usual treat for me!»

Nicole (Girod) Owens wrote in response to the Alumni Cocktail invitation: «Would love to come, alas, my husband will be out of town for 4 months during that period and I have no one who can take care of the children here in Oklahoma. Best wishes to all. Peace and Blessings, Nicole.»

Régine Benjamin sent her regrets from Paris to Natalie about the Alumni Cocktail in New York: “It's been a long time...I hope you are well. I'm glad to see that you are getting a good response from classmates. You and Beck and others are doing a great job. Congratulations! I'm sorry I won't be in New York for the get together that has been organized. I would have loved to participate. I'm sure it'll be lots of fun. I hope you all take pictures! Thanks for keeping me posted. Nice seeing all these names pop up! Good hearing you're all getting back together for a little "reunion" d'anciens eleves.”

J.P. Brandt wrote shortly after he arrived in New York: “I just got back in town. I'm sorry I keep missing all the reunions (in Paris as in NYC)... I'm never in the right town at the right moment.” Like several classmates, J.P. seems to commute back and forth between New York and Paris with his latest (3-month-old Julia) in tow.

Stephanie Carson-Parker sent her regrets for the New York reunion last August, so now she and Annyvonne Jeanmaire '79 are spearheading a Reunion of '78/'79 in Paris on Sunday, March 25. Stephanie had sent the following message: "I've been living in Paris since forever, married a goodlooking Frenchman named Bruno and we have three beautiful daughters Maxime 11, Camille 8 and Gabrielle 4. Worked in advertising for a few years, then moved on to public relations and more recently joined the French bank Société Générale to manage its relations with the media. I miss the States, NY and the Lycée increasingly more as I get older (growing pains ?); hope to make it back some day."

● AALFNY Council member Natalie Yates Cacciato writes: "Since our Class of '78 reunion in New York in August, I'm happy to report that Richard (my husband and partner) and I have moved our web development firm Blue Iceberg to an office in the Garment District. The area between Penn Station and Times Square is very colorful and full of energy, but everything is relative. I occasionally run into Natalie Hatgis who just escaped the Garment District to open her new handbag and accessories store in the Meat Packing District! I attended Alain Benzaken's "Bridge to Business" presentation at the Lycée about his work at Priceline.com-- very interesting. I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make to our Mini-Reunion in Paris on March 25. The Association can always use your ideas as well as financial support to keep the lines of communication open. Thanks!" Natalie also reports news from Fred Kapner. [Note: Fred is deceased, January 2006] "I saw Fred in Milan in February. He recently moved back to Milan from London to become the Milan Correspondent for The Financial Times. He and his Italian wife had just moved to London to help improve their daughters' English, so when he's not on deadline, or looking into Italian schools for the girls again, he's doing the weekend commute until the end of the school year. ● In January Stephanie Carson-Parker and Annabelle Cone (who was living in Lyon with her daughters for 3 months) spent some time in Paris together and "poured over my old photo albums full of pictures of many of you (many from K's Kasriel ski camp)." Annabelle is a senior lecturer at Dartmouth College. PhD in French from Brown in 1993, 2 children. " I live in Cornish , N.H. pop. 2000, which is a luxury considering the girls' public school classes are very small and very family supported. Overall, life is good, well-balanced, especially since I get dropped into high density pop. situations fairly frequently, which reminds me how nice it is to return to the rural way of life, even if I have to drive (to buy) milk rather than take the elevator down and cross the street!"

A bientôt.”
