I'm still in touch with Claire Le Pichon, Catherine Gaillochet and that is about it. After I left the LFNY, I returned to Cotonou where I got my Bac, then to the university, where I studied Civilizations and Literature. In 1998 I took two years to work, at a radio station, then at a private television station. For my maitrise I studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and graduated in 2001. Then, I took a year off, to have a baby. My daughter was born on July 26, 2006 in Paris: her name is Sènalidé, my beloved princess. In 2002 I went back to school and studied at the l'institut supérieur d'interprétaion and traduction in Paris, where I saw regularly Catherine Gaillochet. Then I decided to go back to Benin, where I have been living for the past two years. Six months ago I started working with UNHCR (United Nation's high commission for refugees). I would love to hear from you guys-- I mean Pauline Ladsous, Dorothy McAuliffe, Florence, Jérémy Regnier, Arielle Fenig. I was really sad to hear that Bianca died. We have been living in Maisons Laffitte (78) for a year and a half now, where we have bought a nice appartement. It brings me back quite a few years ago... Like for everyone, it was a shock to learn about Bianca Pujol's accident. And then it was really nice to read about Dorothy McAuliffe's family. About me? After the LFNY, I came back to Geneva (Switzerland) where I passed my "Bac" (or "Maturité" like we call it in Switzerland) and my law degree in 2000. I worked in Frankfurt (Germany) for six months before returning to Geneva to follow my two years traineeship as a lawyer. I qualified as a lawyer in 2003 and worked two and a half more years in the litigation area. Now I am currently ending a one year Master of laws (LL.M.) programm in International Business Law in London and will be heading back to Geneva in September to work in the international arbitration department of one of the top Swiss law firms." ----- From December 2006 AALFNY Newsletter ----- ● WEDDINGS/MARIAGES: Nicolas Renard and Charlotte Lancelot got married in Lyon on April 29, 2006. They both studied and met at Lyon Veterinary School. Since then, they live in the Netherlands close to Amsterdam. ● This from Justin DeKoszmovszky: "2006 was a busy year: Finished my MBA, got married to my best friend, Tatiana Thieme, and moved to England to start a new job managing strategic sustainability projects for SC Johnson across Africa and the Near East." ● Pauline Ladsous wrote: "Dear all, firstly, I'd like to apologize for being such a crappy alumnus, i.e. who doesn't keep much in touch although I do have fond memories of the lycée and of classmates. Welcome to the world of the Swiss Hospitality, in which I've been working for the past three years. After my BBA, I started off as a "dame d'office" (PC term for dishwasher.....yeah, a dishwasher with a BBA...il n'y a pas de sot métier me disais-je :-)) at the RedClub, the Lausanne Palace & Spa's private night-club, then three months later was promoted to ...Ooh lala....waitress!!!! Still working nights from 8pm to 6:30 am...Then three months later to....barmaid??..NO....Executive assistant to the greatest boss in the world, the Hotel's GM. Loads of work but always interesting, varied, challenging and for someone whom I admire, more than respect, basically just love. Since he is as well Chairman of the Leading Hotels of the World, I'm secretly hoping to jump into one of his suitcases on his next trip to NY, as I miss the City so much, and I'll make sure to come see the new Lycée. I am fortunate to have kept in touch with Marc Perraud, Stéphane Peudupin, Andrea Livi, Inès Chaalala, Julien Chappuis & Nicolas Rémy (who are both in Lausanne as well) and received emails from Bertrand Hauss and Florence Theil. So in case you're looking to contact one of them, please let me know. I do not plan on leaving Lausanne any time soon, so in case you're looking to stay in a Palace on Lake Geneva have no hesitation in letting me know: I'll get you a nice rate and would love to show you around. After I got my BA in stats at BU, I worked in a consulting firm for 3 years until I burned out, so I went to Tulane University in New Orleans with Delphine (yes, again!) and got my MBA. I also found my beau at Tulane & followed him to California & started nesting." ● Nicolas Renard wrote: "Hello guys, Time has passed since my last since my last class notes: I graduated from Vet School in France in 2001. But I did not stay in the clinical world and got into business school (EM Lyon) to complete a Master's Degree in B to B marketing. I am now an International Product Manager for Intervet International (vet pharmaceutical company, ranked 3rd in the world). But, biggest of all, I'm getting married to Charlotte (another French vet) next April. Hoping to get in touch with former friends from LFNY. Honestly, I was so amazed to read about Arielle, Nicolas Renard, Dorothy McAuliffe (14 years after I left the LFNY) that I decided to say hello! After my studies in Paris (history and Literature), I lived a while in London then traveled to Lebanon. I am currently living in Beirut and I work in a French-speaking publishing house. How did I get here? I don’t know! But it’s a nice country (tumultuous but nice). I’m in love with a wonderful Lebanese girl and here I am, creating and correcting books in French for children and adolescents! Fortunately (that’s the “cool” part of my life) I am also playing music with a rock band (The New Government is our name) and still fulfilling my passion for acting. I would so very much like to have news from any of my school mates back in my “Lycée Français” years! I didn’t realize that reading news from ancient friends would be an emotional experience too. I was very shocked to read about Bianca Pujol’s accident and death. I remember her, she was a very sweet and beautiful girl. I then went back to New York where I taught at a Montessori School for 3 years.. Spent a lot of time with toddlers then. After that, I decided to go back to school to get my Masters. I got my masters in social work from Tulane University last December. I am currently living in New Orleans and work for a state agency as a social worker working with families in need of services. I still keep in touch with Nathalie Mounier with whom I am still very good friends. We actually lived in New Orleans together for two years. I'd love to hear from my old classmates." ● Andrea Livi wrote: "I completed my master's in Historic Preservation from UVM as planned in 2002. I lived for a short while in Pennsylvania and was employed as an architectural historian there. I am currently working on my doctorate in Urban Planning and Design at the University of Maryland. I have been through a lot of ups but mostly downs since I left the Lycée, yet it reassured me to see that I am an exception and that most of you already have a stable and fulfilling life. After my Bac S, I logically went to Hypokhagne, then Parsons School of Design, Universität Wien and now Glion Hotel School in Switzerland where I am doing a BBA in Hospitality Management. All this to say that it has been pretty hectic and full of changes, and that the LFNY years are some kind of paradise lost. (I can't believe I am actually saying this!) So if anyone of you feels like checking out Bulle-en-Gruyère, where I am studying, let me know and I'll arrange for fondue, schnapps and cow milking. Now a senior at the National Veterinary School of Lyon, he is defending his thesis, a "comparison of the level of adaptation to free diving between marine Mammals and elite breath-hold divers." He returns often to the U.S. to see friends, former classmates and to complete externships in American Veterinary Colleges. ● Dorothy McAuliffe Rodriguez writes: "I was in the class of 95' along with Bianca Pujol... I am now almost through with my degree in Accounting and intend to pursue a masters degree and CPA exam. I am also the proud mother of 2 babies, Serena Lee (20 months) and new baby Kenneth Kyle (2 months). My husband is also in college pursuing a degree in social work.
