Previously, she played Estelle in NO EXIT, Gwendolyn in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, and Miriam in THE WOMEN at Marymount Manhattan Theatre. Off-Off Broadway on 42nd Street's Theatre Row at the Nat Horne Theatre, she appeared as Nina in THE GIRL ON THE VIA FLAMINIA and Lily in MIDSUMMER...... I just had the interesting experience of singing a concert at the Arsenal de Metz last week. Incredible building redone by the Catalan architect Bofill in high modern style inside, whilst keeping its exterior intact. I had never been to Metz, although I know Nancy quite well. It's a strange city: Part ancient Gallo-Romain, part Gothic, part recognisably French and part recognisably German with a touch of garrison town to boot. The thing which was particularly interesting for me was that my Great Grandmother was born there and her entire family is buried there. She emigrated to London in about 1900, married, and had her children (including my Grandmother Elizabeth) here. I went to the Hotel de Ville trying to find out about my family, whose name was Beckermann, but they said I needed to go to the Archives Municipales to find records going back far enough. Et quel bonheur de retrouver des noms qui ne m'étaient pas inconnus. Je suis la fille de Françoise Peponnet que certains d'entre vous auront eu comme professeur en maternelle. J'ai moi-même été élève en maternelle avec Mlle Loret, puis en 11ème avec mlle Bazini,et pour finir en 10eme avec Mlle Dejean de 1964 à juin 1967. De retour en France en Juin 2000, nous nous sommes installés à Versailles, avec nos 2 filles, que nous avons adoptées en Bulgarie, Ombeline 10 ans et demi et Mathilde 7 ans et demi. Alors, que certaines de mes amies sont presque 'grand-mere', moi, pour ma part, je nage en pleine grammaire française du niveau CM2 (7e) et de niveau CE1 (10eme). Peu importe, nos deux filles sont notre plus grande joie et c'est avec elles que nous fêterons l'année prochaine nos 20 ans de mariage !! Click on link below to read it.) ● Olivier Hequet wrote: "After many years my family sent me some year books from the Lycee and now I stumble across the website for the LFNY, which again reminds me of so many long lost childhood friends. For those friends, here is a quick summary of where my schools and jobs took me: I have studied math (BS at UW) then on to music (MA in Jazz at NEC) and then finance (MBA Wharton). The last item led to work in London in finance for the last 10 yrs. I met my wife in the music phase and we have two daughters, Chloe and Imogen. I graduated in 1983 and went to med school in Washington DC. I graduated in 1987 and married Valerie Krieger, a GW classmate, three days before graduating. We headed to Los Angeles for our residencies - me in Internal Medicine at Cedars Sinai Med Ctr., she in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. We completed our residencies in 1990 and had our first child that year - Kenneth. We moved to San Francisco in 1991. I started additional training in Hematology/Oncology at UC San Francisco and joined the faculty upon finishing in 1994. I specialize in taking care of patients with lung cancers and sarcomas (tumors of bones, muscle and connective tissues). In the interim we had two additional children - Lillian in 1992, and Robert in 1993. All three children are dual citizens, all three go to the Lycee Francais Laperouse. Kenny, now in high school, moved to the Lycee Francais International. The other two will join him for 3eme and on. I am in regular contact with a few close friends from the LFNY (Jordan Stern, Laurence Stern, Alain Cloarec, Harold Hyman). I do not make it to NY as much, but I look forward to hearing about the new building and I also look forward to hearing from alumni from my promo. He left a wife and two small children. She had no further information. ● Nanette Norwood's mother passed away on January 14, 2005. Any cards or condolences can be sent to Nanette. Please feel free to contact us for her address. ● Véronique Stanek wrote: "The only happening in our lives is that our business La Bergerie***** is still running. We still have not found a buyer but it will be soon on the US market. We had our five stars renewed: it is very rare for an independant gite as ours. And, we are ready to go vote for the european referendum tomorrow. There will be surprises, I think!" ● From Jordan Stern: "Jordan and his family (wife Nathalie, son Lucas 13, daughter Mia 6) are returning from the South of France where they spent the past four years. I came to help the government start the first centers for the mentally handicapped in 1977. After working for several years helping to create awareness and starting teacher training programs in that area, I shifted my interest to special needs in the regular schools. My work in schools involved starting resource classes for students with special needs, in-service teacher training in three main areas: special needs, class management and behavior management in the regular classroom. I served as a consultant for UNESCO for the Middle East area and most of my missions involved training both at the governmental and teacher level in special needs. At present, I have shifted my interest once again and am now working with a team of professionals to work with autistic children and support their families. In addition, I have always done developmental assessments for children from birth to 6 years. My work with young children and teacher training are my two passions. I have been married for 25 years and have two children. My son just finished his first year of college in hotel management in the US and my daughter is attending an International Baccalaureate school here in Amman and is going up to 11th grade." -------From November 2004 AALFNY Newsletter----- ● DECES Nicolas Reynard ('77) died in a tragic air plane crash on November 11, 2004. ● Veronique (Stanek) Rousseau-Vellones wrote that she has put up for sale her auberge in the Loire Valley ("La Bergerie") and as soon as she finds a buyer, will be moving to Provence. ● Clarissa (Gyorgy) Fetrow shared this with us: "Hi Everyone, I began at the Lycee in 1965 and attended from 11eme through 5eme. I was recently surprised to see that my artwork graces several of those old yearbooks. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I loved a lot of my classmates from around the world, I loved the beautiful buildings we were in (did you know that most schools don't have marble ballrooms?), I loved being affirmed for being smart and eager to learn. But it was also pretty repressive on many of our spirits, as I recall. Still, I am proud to have gone, and I remember a lot fondly. I have loved language ever since. I have loved the combination of charcoal grey and navy blue ever since. I taught French, English and Spanish for a few years. Now I live in Seattle, with my husband David and our 18 month old daughter Miranda. I have a quieter life than I had in New York, with fresher air, but fewer museums. I love it here, and visit NY for a few days every couple of years. I rarely speak French these days, but when I do, even when I'm stumbling and groping for words, I'm told I have a beautiful accent. I'd love to hear from those who remember me. Much as I loved the French educational system, I opted to go straight to Brown University rather than remain for Terminale. What's new? After graduating from Harvard Business School in 1985, I embarked upon a 16 year career at Bear Stearns & Co. ending as a Senior Managing Director in Fixed Income Institutional Sales. In April 2001, I started a new career as a Fixed Income Portfolio manager at the New York branch of Credit Industriel et Commercial. Working at a French bank has encouraged me rediscover my French "roots". I am married with 2 boys (13 and 10) and live in Scarsdale, New York. I welcome anyone from the LFNY who is interested in aeronautics and particularly in the civil transport area to contact me. I am currently communications manager at the Airbus european consortium, and look forward to help anyone willing to gather information or even check possibilities of a career in this specific industry. Headquartered in Toulouse, southwestern France, I would be delighted to help any LFNY alumni. 32 years ago, at the LFNY, I had many friends. But this is a long time ago and I would be delighted if I could get back in touch with one or several of those old forgotten friends. We are now all over forty, but after all, that's one of the Alumni Association's ‘raison d'être’.” ● Lisa Stern writes: “Between college and graduate school I spent several years working as a ballet dancer. I am married to my partner of many years, David Lasday, and we have an absolutely wonderful son, Asher, who will be 2 years old this coming June. I am a psychologist/psychoanalyst (I went on to get a post-doctoral degree in psychoanalysis after finishing my Ph.D.) and am fortunate enough to have an office in the same building as our home. This affords me the ability to be around Asher and enjoy watching him grow, while continuing to work at my profession.” ● Isabelle Baudry McDonald writes: “I have really lost touch with everyone of my old friends from the LFNY. It's hard to believe that high school was 24 years ago! I am currently living in Montclair, NJ, married for 18 years, have 3 children: Alex 13, Katherine 11, Emily 9. We are actually going to France this summer for the first time in a very long time.
