Love my work which I have been doing for over 20 years... I saw my old friend Karen MacGowan (now goes by the name Anabelle) when visiting Paris a year ago, and enjoyed visiting with Patsy Baudoin while we were both in NYC. My dear friend Belinda Aberbach ('73) is someone else that I have stayed in touch with... Old friends are so special. And of course, I always see my cousin Ronald Grelsamer ('71) when I'm in NY. I have two daughters (21 & 24) who are making there way in the world... C'est beau d'etre jeune!" 40-Year Class Reunion ● Pierre Erville wrote: "Salut tout le monde! Can you believe we're about to start 2012, the 40th year since our graduation? Some say it's the end of times -- well ... what a great excuse for a party! Let's have a boum to end all boums! Seriously folks, unless I've missed something, we have yet to have a reunion all our own. Long overdue, dontcha think? I'd love to help plan one, whether it's in New York, DC, or elsewhere. Anyone else game? I figure it would take at least 5 of us to form a planning committee to get this thing off the ground. Qu'en pensez-vous? I started a Facebook page "lycee 72" where we can start talking about it. Ciao for now!" ● "Walking into Bambi Sloan’s Parisian apartment is like entering an exotic gipsy caravan. Wafts of incense float past ornate tassels and brass lamps, lending a heady, exotic fragrance to the warm autumn air. Gold braid shimmers richly on red velvet cushions. Shelves groan with collections of modern iconography. One almost expects a Madame Rosa figure to appear, swathed in embroidered robes and carrying a crystal ball. But it is a petite Frenchwoman clad in designer black who greets me, her hair casually twisted in an elegant chignon, her fingers clamping a cigarette......." We have launched France Wedding Planner –a Paris-based destination wedding company.........This year, we had the pleasure and privilege of organizing a number of VIP events including for Bates College and the Wiesenthal Center of Tolerance. We are also seeking an ardent Francophile alumnus to represent our services. C'est très sympa et nous sommes toujours en contact." ● Michele Burger wrote: "I have an MSW and work as a Policy/Constituent Aide for Councilmember Rosie Mendez who represents the East Village and the Lower East Side. I am on the Board of ParentJobNet. I am married and have a daughter in medical school and one in college." ● Tanya Lowe waxed nostalgic and wrote: "I started the at the Lycée at age eight, in 1961!" ● Stefan Janis wrote: "I am writing a little regional book which has to do with New England in the 17th century. I have not submitted a book proposal to a publisher yet. At the beginning of October I had a cameo in my father's documentary about his courage and the many medical ordeals he went through in his life. It has been purchased, so I am told, by 150 public television stations in different American cities. Also, my father is coming out with his autobiography in November, which happens to mention me briefly "Chopin and Beyond: My extraordinary life in music and the paranormal." I have tried to stay active with the local Alliance-Francaise in New Haven, CT, but they seem to have vanished from the area. I have joined a hiking group, which I have not taken advange of merely enough. The concert season is starting up at the Yale Music School and I plan to go to a lot of concerts." ● Hala (Tomeh) Ibrahim wrote: "I came to work in Amman in September 1977 as a consultant to the Ministry of Social Affairs and started the first governmental centers for the mentally challenged. After several years, I then helped in starting the first center for psychological and educational services. During that time, I assisted many schools in starting learning support services for students with learning difficulties and did a lot of in-service teacher training. I also served as a consultant to UNESCO for the Middle East. This took me to many Arab countries to do training on Special Needs in the Regular Classroom. My third and hopefully last line of work started 12 years ago with children under the autism spectrum and I am still at it. I think that my experience as a student at the Lycee and how students with difficulties were treated at the time had a significant effect on the career I chose. I am married and have two children who are now in college. In May of 2004, while vacationing in Antigua for our son's high school graduation, I planned a reunion with my best friend from the Lycee, Marie-Nancy Pascal. It was the first time we saw each other since we graduated in 1972. I once was walking in Harvard Square in the 1990's and recognized a classmate from the way she walked. Sure enough it was Nina Schlossman. I then met with her and Patricia Baudoin for a lunch. Those were the only times I had the chance of seeing someone from my school days. Thanks to the Alumni, I was also able to contact Catherine Flego, Valentina Goncharov and Carol-Ann Holzberger by email. And the best was being able to find Mlle Popa who taught me Maths in 5ieme and was the teacher who had the greatest influence on my life as a student. Would love to hear from other alumni of 1972." I have also translated a little book for him about Chopin's life and performance style. Currently, I am working on a sample of a French novel featuring France in 1942 as seen through the eyes of a ten-year-old Jewish convert to catholicism. I also hope to finish my screenplay based on "La Chanson de Roland" in the near future. I do not seem to run into friends from the Lycee, but my circle of friends is ever-widening. I am still a bachelor, but not a confirmed one." ● Marie-Francoise (Cararon) Le Gac posted this update at Copains D'avant.com: “Après avoir obtenu mon bac à New York j'ai fait mes études à Nantes. Je suis mariée et j'ai 2 enfants (Anne-Laure 21 ans et Jean-François 19 ans). After the Lycée I went to the boonies in upstate NY, then on to Princeton where I majored in Art History and studied a great deal of Political Science. These two interests - and art-making - have followed me my whole life. After decades in New York and New York State, I now live in Paris with my husband Berti Braun (half-Peruvian) and our son Philip-Alejo. I do what is called 'art comportemental', which means art-installations that have a subtle, hidden form of interactivity. I'm also setting up an augmented chat space for my neighborhood, which is very international, though poor :-) and in great need of new means for having its voice heard. To earn my living I teach. I would love to hear more from my class-mates and old friends!
